AThe origin of Hina Dolls is the use of human-shaped dolls such as "Amagatsu" and "Houko" dolls, which were used to ward off misfortune and evil spirits. In the Muromachi period (1333-1573), a doll game called "Hiina-asobi" became popular at court, which developed into a custom of giving dolls as gifts to each other, and dolls gradually became more splendid. Later, dolls made of gorgeous strips of cloth began to be made, and "Dairi-bina" dolls, which imitated court costumes, appeared. This led to the modern Hina Dolls.
